The Vision

The Port Noarlunga Soldiers Memorial Bowling Club has a vision for a Regional Bowls Centre. Our club is based on the banks of the picturesque Onkaparinga River in the City of Onkaparinga, some 35 kilometres South of Adelaide. The club is perfectly placed to serve as the Southern Regional Bowls Centre. With no Canopied bowls facility within 30 kilometres to the North and none to the South, an opportunity exists to provide a magnificent bowling facility that can serve the entire Southern Region.

The Plan

The plan is to add to the club’s current two tiff dwarf greens and one synthetic green with a second synthetic green. That the two synthetic greens would be covered by a state-of-the-art canopy.

The Outcomes

A bowls facility that can serve the needs of the Southern Region providing 52 weeks of the year, including,

·      Regional Bowls Academy including Women, Men and juniors

·      Broadened Coaching Opportunities

·      Inclusive bowls programs

·      School based coaching programs

·      Social bowls

·      Pennant bowls

·      State Championships

·      National Events

·      Corporate bowls

·      Novice bowls

·      Regional Events

Participations Projections

Currently the region boasts 31 clubs with more than 5000 bowling club members, all who have no ready access to a canopied green, and therefore restricts their bowling activities in winter months. The construction of our proposed facility meets this need. In addition, non-member social bowlers, potential new bowlers, corporates and visitors also have limited opportunities.

Increased participation numbers, once facility is establish, are projected to be 1090 during summer months and 1600 during winter months.

There is also an exciting opportunity to develop a High Performance Bowls Academy which would enhance the player development pathway for all aspiring bowlers in the Region.

Population Growth

Within a 5 kilometre radius of the Port Noarlunga Soldiers Memorial Bowling Club   there is committed Urban Developments. These include

Noarlunga, 600 homes, Onkaparinga Heights 1000 homes,

Seaford 644 homes.

In addition to this, 800 new homes are planned for Aldinga, 15 kilometres to the South.

Currently the City of Onkaparinga’s population is approximately 186,000, 10% of the South Australia’s population and 13% of the Greater Adelaide Capital City region.
