At Port Stephens Cricket Club, the safety and wellbeing of our players, supporters, and visitors is our highest priority. Sadly, our club has experienced its fair share of heart tragedies. David Robertson (2003), Ricky Mace (2024), and George Moxey (2005) all passed away from heart attacks, with George’s occurring while playing for Port Stephens.

These heartbreaking losses remind us of the importance of being prepared for medical emergencies like Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). SCA can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time, and for every minute that passes without defibrillation, the chance of survival decreases by 9%. Having a defibrillator on hand can mean the difference between life and death.

Why Are We Fundraising?

To honor those we have lost and to protect our community, Port Stephens Cricket Club has decided to purchase a life-saving defibrillator. This essential device will not only be stationed at King Park 5 but will also travel with our Veterans and Masters teams to away games, ensuring safety wherever we play.

While the importance of a defibrillator is clear, the cost is significant. We are also committed to ongoing maintenance, ensuring the defibrillator remains in peak condition with regular checks and replacements of pads and batteries.

We are calling on our community to help us raise $2,000 to cover the cost of this life-saving equipment. Every dollar donated will directly support this cause and make our games and events safer for everyone involved.
