Join me, Rebecca Howell, a dedicated 14-year-old Junior Taekwondo athlete from Tasmania, on my journey to achieving my dreams in the world of Taekwondo. For the past six months, I have been travelling to Melbourne with my father to train and compete, as opportunities in Tasmania are limited for aspiring Kyorugi athletes like me. With your support, I'm reaching out for a helping hand to make my goals for 2023 a reality.

I started my Taekwondo journey at a young age, and my passion for this martial art has only grown stronger. Unfortunately, I have faced a lack of development competition since 2020. That's why I made the decision, with the support of my coach Jason Cassidy and my family, to join Team Taekwondo led by Master Murat Eryurek in Pascoe Vale, Victoria. However, pursuing this commitment comes with significant financial costs.

To train and compete in Melbourne, I need to cover additional coaching fees, airfares, accommodation, and transportation expenses. These costs have exceeded our initial estimates, putting a strain on my ability to fund my journey effectively.

My training regimen is rigorous, consisting of weekly sessions at Cassidys Taekwondo in Tasmania, strength and conditioning sessions at my school gym, and fortnightly cross-training nights with Team Taekwondo. I also attend regular sessions at Team Taekwondo and participate in competitions whenever possible. Recently, I participated in Victoria's Talent Recruitment Camp and have been selected as a VIC Pathways Training Partner. This selection increases my training sessions, requiring additional funding. Furthermore, there are opportunities to attend training camps throughout the year, which I hope to take advantage of.

I'm entered to compete at the highly esteemed WT President's Cup Oceania and Australian Open events on the Sunshine Coast in July. These competitions will provide me with valuable exposure and experience in my pursuit of becoming an elite taekwondo athlete. Following that, I earned a spot in the National Championships in Perth this October, where I will showcase my skills against the country's best competitors. Furthermore, I aspire to participate in the Australian Junior Team selection event for the 2024 World Taekwondo Junior World Championships in Chuncheon, South Korea.

By ensuring that I have the necessary financial support to cover these foreseeable expenses, I can fully focus on pursuing my Taekwondo goals and giving my best in these prestigious events. Your generous financial contribution toward the cost of my Taekwondo journey this year would make a tremendous difference and be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for considering supporting me on this incredible journey.

With gratitude,

Rebecca Howell
