In 2024 Victoria sent their first ever U16 Schoolgirls team to participate in the Australian Schools Sevens Tournament on the Sunshine coast. The tour was so successful that in 2025 Victoria will, for the first time, send both an U18 team ( with many girls returning from last years team) and an U16 team with 2 players returning from 2024.
This competition is one of the most prestigious National Schools competitions and serves as a selection trial for the Australian Schoolgirls Sevens team. In 2023 this team went on to win the Global Youth Sevens on the Gold Coast.
Three of the 2023 Australian Schoolgirls, Shalom Sauaso, Waiaria Ellis, and Elise Simpson, were selected for Rugby Australia’s U18 Sevens team. Both Shalom and Waiaria played SuperW in 2025.
The costs of this three day tournament are high. We are once again turning to our incredible Victorian Community to donate whatever they are able to support our players and show the rest of Australia the incredible young talent we have here in Victoria!
