My name is Sam Blade, and I am dedicated to breaking barriers in para-sports, specifically wheelchair fencing. 

I began my fencing journey in 2018 to overcome a depressive cycle following my diagnosis with Friedreich's ataxia. Along with allowing me to break out of that depressive cycle, wheelchair fencing, specifically the training that comes with it, is one of my treatments for FA since exercise is the main treatment to combat FA progression. I returned to the sport in 2022 with full commitment. I am currently ranked number 1 in wheelchair fencing in Australia and achieved an international ranking of 63 in Men's Category A Sabre at the Asian/Oceanian Wheelchair Fencing Championships in April 2024.

Your support is crucial in helping me cover the essential costs associated with my training and competitions. This includes travel expenses, equipment purchases, and ensuring I have access to top-notch coaching and athlete welfare support. Specifically, I need international standard equipment like sabres, electric masks, and jackets. Additionally, I wish to start competing in a new weapon, Epée, which will allow me to participate in more matches in competitions.
