Sorrento Golf Club was founded in 1907 and has since grown to be one of the most popular golf clubs in Victoria.

Set on a sand and limestone base, the course was originally a nine-hole course that has grown to an impressive nineteen hole layout that is impeccably maintained by our team, headed up by long-time Superintendent Shane Greenhill. Our Membership ranges from Little Chipper to Senior categories, and we encourage young Members to take part from an early age as generations have done before them.

The Sorrento Golf Club Foundation was established to provide Members of Sorrento Golf Club with the opportunity to contribute to the preservation and development of the Club in keeping with its status as the Club of Choice on the Mornington Peninsula and one of Australia’s leading golf clubs.

The initial project in 2008/09, the Sam Wilson Dam, was a major success and would ensure the Club’s water supply into the future. At $1 million that project would have been beyond the Club’s capability but the success of the project has been and will be enjoyed by members for years to come.

The purpose of the Foundation is to raise funds to support special projects that will strengthen and improve the Club for the enjoyment of future generations. Projects that may not necessarily fall within the Club’s normal operating budget.

These might include:

·        Environment & Sustainability: reducing the Club’s carbon footprint through installation of solar energy, waste management, recycling and reduction, water management and preservation;

·        Infrastructure: redeveloping the Practice Fairway and upgrading the course irrigation system to improve efficiency;

·        Member Facilities: provision of enhanced on-course Food & Beverage service, clubhouse enhancement;

·        Acquisition of properties on the Club’s boundaries which may protect existing boundaries or provide an opportunity to extend the Club’s facilities.

Donations to the Foundation via the Australian Sports Foundation are tax deductible, or can be made direct to the SGC Foundation or through a bequest. For further details, feel free to contact Craig Kimberley or Patrick Carter, General Manager, of Sorrento Golf Club.
