Visit websiteThe Southern Flinders Football Club Development Fund aims to raise funds for our equipment, administration & operating costs in delivering & coordinating football in our regional community.
The Southern Flinders Football Club (SFFC) is based in the Mid North of South Australia, servicing the small farming communities of Laura, Wirrabara, Gladstone, Georgetown & Port Germein.
SFFC was established in 2002, from the amalgamations of former clubs Laura Wirrabara Football Club & Rocky River Football Club (formerly Gladstone Combine). After many years of both clubs struggling for survival, the clubs amalgamated to form the Southern Flinders Football Club, revitalising football in the community.
Following the amalgamation the club has grown into a very successful club, winning a number of premierships, developing a number of association medallists, and having a strong and hardworking base of volunteers. A number of SFFC committee members have gone to hold executive positions for the association, which has highlighted the professionalism and skill sets of the club and its management.
The club currently consists of 3 senior (2 men’s & 1 women’s) & 4 junior teams (2 boys, 2 mixed gender) competing in the Northern Areas Football Association, and Mid North Women’s League. The club had approximately 170 members & players in 2020.
SFFC utilise 3 venues for trainings and matches; Wirrabara, Laura & Gladstone, also utilising these facilities for its functions and gatherings, and share a close affiliation with the Southern Flinders Netball club, who train and play at the same venues. Each of the grounds are managed by facility management committees, who share a good relationship with the football club and other user clubs.
SFFC prides itself on being a family club, where every one is welcome including players, families, volunteers, sponsors, fans and the general public.
The club has significant costs in delivering & coordinating football in the community each year, and hopes this fund will provide people with the opportunity to support the club in covering expenses including footballs, insurance, uniforms, trophies & hire fees through a tex deductible donation.
