On 8^th March 2020, whilst riding my beloved horse Landmark, I suffered a Subarachnoid Haemorrhage (Secondary to Ruptured Right MCA Bifurcation Aneurysm – with a Right sided Craniotomy and craniotomy clipping of MCA aneurysm with a EVD insertion/ICP insertion), followed by a stroke.  This meant an extended rehab, learning to walk, talk and do the things I’d taken for granted every day until then.  Simple things became frustratingly difficult.  Nevertheless, 2 years on from that fateful March day, after hours of rehab, physio, more rehab and even more physio, I had my first sit on a horse.......introducing the lovely HV Dante.  We’re in our first year of Para together and we’re showing excellent progress with good scores/percentages. In March 2023 we received our FEI classification Grade 4 and I’ve now been included in the Equestrian Australia Para Equestrian High Performance Squad -Next Generation.  Our goal is to qualify for the 2024 Paris Paralympics, followed by 2026 WEG and then onward and upward to the 2028 LA Paralympics!  In between, a plethora of international qualifying comps.  Whilst I love South Australia, all of the required qualifying events (CPEDI’s)  are interstate,  and travel costs alone are frightening let along the cost of Drivers, Caravan Hire, Stable Hire, entry fees and the odd roadhouse meal.   To get an idea, our last trip to Boneo in Victoria cost upwards of $3500.00.   The dream need dollars to keep it alive, but with support, the love of my family and friends and “eyes on the prize”, everything is possible. **UPDATE** Returning from our first qualifying event at beautiful Boneo on Mornington Peninsula at the 2023 Stable Ground National Dressage Championships with the CPEDI3* Gr 4 Grand Prix Championship. GPa 67.732% 2nd, GPb 69.009% 1st & GP Freestyle 70.592% 3rd = overall Championship. Our next qualifying event February 15th-18th 2024 at the amazing Willinga Park Bawley Point NSW.......
