Hi, I’m Tahlia. My family like to say that I was born on a bike. And after one too many unsupervised rides around the neighbourhood my Dad took me to the local velodrome. At 4 years old my life in cycling began. After making several state teams as a teenager I put my cycling career on hold to focus on university and starting a career, though I still rode for fun.  

This fun came to an abrupt stop in my early 20’s, whilst riding my mountain bike I fell, landing on my head on a tree root. That little tree root caused a significant brain injury and I woke in rehab where I spent the next 3 months, learning to walk and talk again. 

Feeling dejected with cycling, unable to ride the same as I had my whole life, I stopped. Fast forward a decade I realised that I could have a new life with cycling, as a paracyclist. 

The feelings I get from cycling these days are indescribable, I didn't think I would ever again experience the sense of freedom and independence I feel whilst riding my bike. 

Now I have the honour of representing Australia as a member of the national team at the 2024 Paracycling Road World Championships in Zurich, Switzerland. Unfortunately, this privilege is self-funded, so in order represent Australia I have to pay $10,000.  

This is where I need your help. Any donation will be greatly appreciated and would give me the opportunity to experience the thing that brings me so much joy on the biggest stage.
