Being an athlete is in my character, I hope to inspire people to do the things which inspire them.

With your support, and my unwavering work ethic I can be the first Australian vision impaired athlete to qualify for the Winter Paralympics to compete in Para Biathlon and Para Cross-Country Skiing. More importantly I am also the first Australian female on the Para Nordic scene and I hope to inspire other Aussies to come join me on the cross country trails too.

In May 2019 Cone-Rod dystrophy changed my life. This diagnosis meant that my navigation of the world is becoming increasingly difficult as my eyesight disappears.

Competing in winter sport from Australia requires extended periods of overseas travel.

Even though I aqm only just coming up to 3 years on snow in July 2025 I am on track to make the games.

After my World Cup debut at the Paralympic test event in February this year I returned home to the news that I made the Winter Paralympic Team long list and I am so proud to be charging ahead with my goals.

2025 is a big year for winter sport athletes the world over. I am certainly no exception.

Pre Paralympic year plans

  • July 2025 - Training camp, Wanaka Snow Farm, NZ
  • August 2025 - Snow Australia and Biathlon Australia Nationals, Vic Snow Fields, Australia
  • Nov 2025 - Training Camp, Canmore Canada
  • Dec 2025 - World Cup #1 - Canmore, Canada

It is incredibly exciting to be competing in a sport which has seen nearly 20 years pass since our last international athlete in James Millar.

Help us make another snow sport a possibility for the next generation of Aussies

Your generosity and support are much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Taryn Dickens
