The Hunter Wildfires participate in Australia’s premier club Rugby Union competitions for men and women, Sydney’s Shute Shield and Jack Scott Cup. To continue this participation, HWF is Newcastle-based and considers regional NSW as its Rugby Family

The Hunter Wildfires aims to grow the game of Rugby Union in the Hunter region as well as the wider country NSW areas. As the only club not based in Sydney, the Wildfires have a brilliant opportunity to provide a pathway to professional Rugby without players having to move to Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne or Brisbane. We believe in the values of participating and teamwork. We also believe in the relentless pursuit of success.  

The reality is that there are significant costs associated with participating in the Shute Shield, providing a pathway for Hunter and Country NSW players, and growing the game of Rugby. That is why we are requesting your assistance. We require financial support from our highly valued supporters to provide coaching resources to local and junior clubs, provide a professional training environment to our players, assisting in travel costs to compete in Sydney as well as aiding the club in properly engaging with country NSW clubs, players, and coaches. 

The Hunter Wildfires would welcome you with open arms should you be able to support. Any donation of $2 or more is tax deductible through the Australian Sports Foundation and would be greatly appreciated.

2023 EOFY Donation Deadlines

To ensure you receive a FY23 receipt for your donation, please note the following payment due dates:

Tuesday 27th June: Final day for cheque donations to be deposited at a Westpac branch

Tuesday 27th June: Final day for manual donation forms and cheques to be received in the post by the ASF office

Wednesday 28th June: Final day to transfer of funds to the ASF via EFT

Friday 30th June: Final day to make credit card and Apple/Google Pay donations online
