ABOUT Bronte Oates
My name is Bronte Oates, and I’m a 20-year-old middle and long-distance runner from Sydney, Australia. I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been selected to represent Australia at the 2025 World University Games in Germany — an exciting opportunity to compete against the world’s best student-athletes internationally. I have been selected to compete in both the 5000m and 10,000m events. Whilst these are competitive events, based on my current times I have a real chance of medalling at these games.
This event is a major stepping stone toward my ultimate goal: earning a place on a major Australian team within the next 12 months and establishing myself as a world-class athlete in the years to come.
But with great opportunities come significant financial challenges.
Travel, accommodation, team levies, training expenses, and competition fees quickly add up. The team levy alone for this trip is $4,500. As a full-time university student studying a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Science at the University of Technology Sydney, I’m reaching out to my community for support to help make this dream possible.
About Me
I’ve been a passionate distance runner for as long as I can remember, and 2024 has been my breakthrough year. After recovering from an injury in 2023, I returned to racing with renewed focus and strength — and the results speak for themselves:
1st Female – Melbourne Marathon 10km
2nd Female – Sydney Marathon 10km
3rd Female – City2Surf
Australian University National Record Holder - 10,000m
Each performance was a personal best, and over just 18 months, I’ve improved my 10km road time from 36:39 to 32:59 — a huge leap in competitive running.
At the beginning of last year, I was honoured to wear the green and gold for the first time at the World University Cross Country Championships in Oman. That experience showed me what’s possible — and ignited an even deeper drive to reach the top.
How You Can Help
Every donation, whether big or small, will make a real difference, helping me stay focused on my training and giving me the best chance to perform at my peak as I represent Australia in the 2025 World University Championships.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for being a part of this journey. I’m so grateful for your support — it means the world to me.
