Community Fundraising

Community Fundraising with the Australian Sports Foundation - it’s a real game changer.

We can now support projects just like any other crowdfunding platform – through Community Fundraising!

We’re sure you’ve heard of fundraising with online platforms such as GoFundraise, GoFundMe or Everyday Hero. And if you have, we’re sure you know the many benefits of fundraising through crowdfunding. It can really assist you to see those much-needed dollars roll in when you need them most. Your community and supporters become the champions of your cause, fundraising for you, just like fundraising on other crowdfunding platforms, but with the added bonus of all donations being tax deductible. Think Movember for sport!

Community Fundraising helps ordinary Australians from all walks of life connect with and support the sports and sportspeople they love. It’s crowdfunding for sports lovers. Your community – schools, shops, workplaces, teams, individuals – join with your fans, members, and athletes to be part of your fundraising.

Over $150,000 was raised in just a few short months last financial year by people who cared about their sport, wanted to fundraise to help and connected their community to their sporting passion. Find out more about the projects that inspired their communities below:

Community Fundraising is crowd-funding for sports lovers and allows your community to fundraise for you.

It has the look and feel of a crowdfunding platform, but operates within the Foundation’s website. Set up is easy. All you need to do is contact your Sports Partnership Manager who will set it up for you. Simple and straightforward.

Community Fundraising gives a face to your supportive donors. Your community can get behind you and donate –whether it be your local school, workplace, a family or friends – they can fundraise as a team and are included on the Foundation’s website as a ‘fundraising champion.’

Your project page on our website will show how many ‘sporting champions’ have raised money for you, and which ones have raised the most. It will also allow donors to leave a message of support, share their donation on social media, and more easily share your donation page.

Any Australian grassroots sporting clubs and organisations – as long as they have an ABN, are non-profit and are raising money for Australian sport. It’s suitable for individuals, groups and organisations to share their sporting stories and attract support.

Your sporting team or organisation will receive donations to fund things like upgrades to sporting facilities, purchasing equipment, team travel, hosting sports events, junior development, coaching and staffing costs. You can spend less time selling chocolates of slaving hard over a sausage sizzle and instead focus your efforts on how to best allocate the funds you receive to your sporting organisation.

Your community can support the sports that they love, see them grow and see the very real impacts of what they give. Knowing that they’re part of a bigger community and assisting sports groups gives purpose.

Plus, partnering with the Foundation via Community Fundraising means that all donations of $2 or more are tax deductible, which is a real benefit to donors – we are the only organisation in Australia that can give a tax deduction for sports clubs.

Members of your community can donate online from the comfort of their own home. It’s quick, accessible, easy and secure.

All donors will receive support from the Foundation if they sign up as a team to fundraise, receiving valuable advice and access to resources.
