BWHA is a not for profit women's sporting organisation, established in 1933. We provide opportunities in the Greater Brisbane area for women and girls from 4 years to 70+ years, as well as junior boys, to participate in hockey. Our aim is to cater for all participants - players, coaches, umpires, officials and administrators. The recent flood event saw our clubhouses at Downey and Rasey Parks inundated with the lower level of both facilities completely devastated. Our maintenance and storage sheds, amenities block, fields, flood lights and irrigation systems were also severely impacted. While insurance may cover some of the repairs / work (electrical work will cost at least $100k), it will not fully reinstate our position and as a volunteer led not-for-profit entity, we need assistance. Funds raised will be used to repair and reinstate our facilities at Downey and Rasey Parks in Brisbane as well as to implement improvements to minimise future damage from future flood events.
