Brothers Rugby Club Foundation Capital Fund Project

Brothers Rugby Club Foundation Capital Fund Project

Brothers Rugby Club [the Club] was established in 1905, making it one of the oldest rugby clubs in Australia which continues to this day. Its playing numbers drew largely from Christian Brothers schools, thus leading to the name of the club in the early period being known as the Christian Brothers Football Club. The name of the Club evolved over the years to what it is today. The Club has provided 67 Australian Internationals, 6 Test Captains, in excess of 200 Qld Representatives and many more representatives to State youth and Sevens teams. It has won over 27 Premier Grade Premierships. It remains the envy of many rugby clubs in Australia. As important as these achievements are, it is the many memories and friendships cherished by the Club's players and supporters of all levels of rugby that the Brothers Rugby Club Foundation [the Foundation] seeks to preserve and grow for the future. The strength of the Club lies in the spirit of its broader community, a community that sustains itself on and off the field through friendship, endeavour, sacrifice, loyalty and laughter. The resources required to maintain a successful rugby club are significant - the cost base large - the technical expertise necessary, world class. These are challenges the Club alone cannot meet. It is thus the goal of the Foundation to provide financial and commercial independence. The Club must continue to attract the leading players, coaches, support and technical staff. It must have state of the art resources, facilities and grounds. The Foundation will work with the Club to achieve these outcomes.
