Canterbury Hockey Club is based in Hobart, Tasmania. We have a strong history of hockey excellence over the last 55 years with successes at local level competition and with club members successfully representing at National and International levels across the years.

Hockey is a fun and competitive sport that is played in many forms (indoor, outdoor, walking, 5 a side, junior 1/8, 1/4 and 1/2 field) and is open to all abilities. However h ockey can be an expensive sport with safety equipment, playing equipment, uniforms, facility hire, coaching, umpiring, and association fees all required for teams to successfully take to the field each week.

Canterbury Hockey Club want to provide all our members, new, current and returning, with the opportunities to play hockey at the level they want to play, develop new skills and reach individual and team goals.

This project aims to reduce the cost of playing and training for individuals and teams and provision of development programs and sessions throughout the season through subsidising

• costs of training at international-graded facilities, and coaching and equipment support to deliver fantastic engaging training sessions.
• costs of games played on international-graded facilities, umpiring and officiating costs
• costs of essential safety equipment for personal protection as required across all teams to reduce injury during game and training sessions.
• cost of specialists, software, programs and equipment that allow off field education of players and supporters with sessions about nutrition, injury prevention, fitness, mental health and wellbeing, hockey development and umpiring development.
• cost of uniform for those unable to afford.

While many of these costs are required each hockey season, Canterbury HC are exploring strategies and programs that allow for sustainable use of equipment and uniform to both reduce costs and environmental impact and reduce the cost of playing hockey for all our members.
