Cardinia Storm established itself as the first hockey club within the Cardinia Shire Council in 2023.

This year, we are excited and proud that not only did we have four of our junior members selected to play in the Junior State Championships in Shepparton - July 2024 across the U12 and U14 age groups - we now also have another junior member who has been selected to play at the U18 Junior State Championships (JSC) in Bendigo - September 2024!

  • Jean Blignaut joined Cardinia Storm this year, as one of our key players in our inaugural men's team. We are excited with the announcement that Jean has been selected to play in the U18 Boys Southern Sharks team and we wish him the best of luck for the tournament ahead.

In addition, to the selection of Jean, another one of our men's players, has also been selected to be the assistant coach of the U18 Girls Southern Sharks team, to support and share his wealth of hockey knowledge and skill with the future generations of the sport.

  • Scott Burnett joined Cardinia Storm this year as part of our first ever Men's team, leading from the front as our Men's Captain. Scott also saw success after being appointed the Head Coach of the U14 Girls, Southern Sharks team, for the JSC tournament that took place in July this year. We are really excited to watch Scott continue to challenge himself as a coach while he shares his love of hockey with our youth.

Last, but not least, after the selection process was finalised, the Southern Sharks put a call out for volunteers to take on the Team Manager roles for the U18 teams. We are proud to announce that Lindie Blignaut put her hand up to volunteer her time in this space for the U18 Boys team.

Thank you, Lindie, your willingness to support and contribute is very much appreciated not only by Cardinia Storm, but by the whole Sharks Zone.

We are so excited to have our newly established hockey club represented so well in this year's JSC and are asking for your help to fund this amazing opportunity.

We are aiming to raise $2,500, so that we can reduce the out-of-pocket expenses for our members to participate in this fantastic opportunity. Money raised will help cover the cost of playing fees, uniform, accommodation and travel expenses related to this tournament.

All donations of $2 or more are tax deductible and helps to support us in our goal of keeping our kids active!

If you are able to contribute to this cause - no matter big or small, it will have a positive impact on our sporting community and will be very much appreciated.

We are honoured to be able to share our love of hockey within the Cardinia Shire on a regular basis and are incredibly proud of our members for their passion and drive when it comes to giving every opportunity their best efforts.
