Visit websiteWe are a very old club being formed in 1877. We are a member club under the umbrella of the Queensland Rifle Association, Queenslands oldest sporting organization. We conduct competition, training, and practice in the sport of rifle-shooting. We host visitors to come-and-try sessions, and members provide safety courses which are compulsory if a firearm license application is desired.
All shooting sports require a safe, legal, compliant venue where competition, training, and practice can be carried out. No shooting discipline can occur without such a facility on which to participate. Since the closure of the Mt Lofty facility after the 2011 floods, it became abundantly apparent that the sport needed a stand-alone venue which was not threatened in the future due to the need for firing and/or tenancy agreements with land-owners, such as those in place around the region. This facility will be unique in this region as a single point of contact where these sports can be held safely, legally, and without the threat of loss due to any compliance issues.
Many years ago a citizen could take for example their grandson or daughter to the local tip or quarry or a paddock and teach the fundamentals of shooting and firearm safety, or enjoy a few shots as pastime. Nowadays that is not possible under the stricter modern rules.
A modern range facility would allow such activities to be safely carried out by the general public and corporate entities as well as be used by dedicated shooting sports clubs. Funding will be sourced from as many donors as possible.
Please make a tax deductible donation today and help make this facility a reality.
