Due to popular demand we are building a statue of Dougie to keep him out of the history books!

We are very excited to announce that we have secured renowned Australian artist Louis

Laumen for the statue work!

​

Louis's works are featured all around, including many at the MCG, with names sculptured including; Shane Warne, Denis Lillie, Don Bradman, Bill Ponsford, Keith Miller, Neil Harvey, even Winx! and many others.

We have the support of Dungog Council to locate the statue near the main street of Dungog. The scale of the statue is proposed to be slightly above life size- around 115%. See our mock up of the statue attached (indicative only and not in exact location).

Importantly, The Doug Walters Foundation will continue the work of the Doug Walters Club run by Cricket NSW, which raised over $600,000 to support junior and regional cricket in NSW.

​

Our next donation will be made to support the future of cricket in Dungog NSW, with excess funds remaining in the Foundation for future cricket donations.

​

To succeed our project requires $150,000 to get off the ground.

​

Work will begin in March 2024 and the statue is expected to be completed by early 2025.

​
