Visit websiteIn November 2024, the IFA Women's World Fistball Championships will be held for the 160th time, this time hosted by Club de Gimnasia Guatambú (CGG) in the region of Montecarlo, Argentina.
The Fistball Federation of Australia will be sending a national women's fistball team to a World Championships for the second time in its 11-year history, and for the first time in 8 years, after introducing the fistball community to the 'Possums' at a World Championships in Brazil in 2016. After having their participation severely disrupted in recent years, most prominently the restrictive impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, FiFA is excited to finally be sending a team of new, exciting Australian women's fistballers to compete against the world's best on fistball's biggest stage.
Of course competing for your nation in a World Championships (particularly one held in a remote region of South America) is an expensive exercise, with costs for international flights, accommodation and team clothing all needing to be covered by the individual players, a cost that can put great strain on their ability to commit to competing. This has been only worsened by the increased cost of flights in the post-COVID world, making this trip a very expensive exercise to undertake.
Hence, we are asking for help from the Fistball community and beyond in raising funds to offset some of these costs.
Through our fundraising partnership with the Sports Foundation, donations to the team are tax deductible, so please show your support by donating today.
Thank you, and fist on!
