GNS Hockey Club High Performance/Building Fund – An Australian Sports Foundation Registered Project

We are reaching out to you personally because you have been a valuable player or social supporter of Gordon North Sydney Hockey Club and we hope that you have a personal interest in the future outcome of the club to restore it to its former glory.

In 2024 we are excited by the recent upgrade to the synthetic surface at the Ku-Ring-Gai Hockey Centre and the return of home games for the men, women and juniors but there is still much to be done.

Over the next five years we are seeking to climb the ladder one season at a time until all our teams are competitive with the top four clubs. GNS has a proud hockey history, but with a dip in standard on the competition ladder, increasing performance costs, we are currently at risk of being stuck in underperformance.

To correct the above, the GNS Committee has established a ‘High Performance/Building Fund’ which will implement the following on an ongoing annual basis:

·        High performance coaching – engaging fresh new representative coaches, in part in an overseeing structure capacity;

·        High performance equipment and facilities – ensuring the necessary pitches, equipment and training resources are available; and

· High-performance player scholarships – attracting and keeping the best players both locally and from overseas.

These key initiatives have each been carefully considered in detail and will ensure that the club will have the structure to be successful again.

Due to the current low number of registered players the club will not be able to finance these performance needs without funding donations.

We do appreciate that some of you have kindly donated to the club in the past and we are truly grateful for that.

The key purpose of this fund is two-fold – firstly, in 2024, to secure the services of key senior coaching advisors and to sponsor up to 4 new representative players to provide the premier teams with short-term assistance, and then secondly from 2025 onwards, to provide ongoing financial stability to ensure that the high-performance structure and culture is maintained.

We are targeting funds of $50,000 in 2024 and then circa $25,000 annually from 2025 so would greatly appreciate any donation you can kindly provide. The fundraising has already commenced and several members of the club have already kindly donated.

The club has received independent financial advice confirming that all donations are tax deductible. Please note by selecting this option you agree to the Australian Sports Foundation’s Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy” A receipt will be issued by the Australian Sports Foundation for every donation received.

Without your help we are unlikely to see the club returning to the previous successful years and, at worst, there is a real risk that the club could shrink further.
