About the project

The Gungahlin district of Canberra is the fastest growing district of the ACT and one of the fastest growing districts within Australia. Water Polo, along with other water sports, is growing at the same rapid pace and therefore competing for limited pool space in the key morning and evening time slots when children, youth and adults are available. The Gungahlin Dragons Water Polo Club has a range of male and female players representing the Club and Territory at State and National level and we are currently promoting our sport vigorously in the district primary and high schools. New members bring revenue but without a good range of pool times available on offer we will not be able to attract and retain members - the heart and soul of a club.

Pool hire is the single most expensive recurring cost for the Club and remains a constant revenue requirement, winter and summer, regardless of how many members are actually in the pool. The cost of pool hire is negotiable but regardless of the good relationship we have with the pool owners it is ultimately a cost that is out of our control and we need to plan accordingly. Additional funds donated by members and district businesses will directly assist in covering the cost of pool hire and aid in growing the membership base in the community. Please support us by making a donation today.
