There are many things that need to happen to get players on the ground to play cricket, one of those is preparation of the cricket ground. To prepare the ground for play there are various items and equipment that are needed and needs to be in working order.

The club desperately needs to replace some of these items to help get our players on the park and playing the game they love. 

The items the club desperately needs are:

·      A Fountain Proline V4 line marker at $2500 including GST

·      Cricket pitch covers for our turf wicket, 15m x 30m at $1755 including GST

·      A new trolley to carry the covers – a commercially purpose made trolley, 2.5 m x 1.3m, costs $5000

·      A sturdy aluminium ramp to load and unload the covers into and out of storage costs $300

The grand total we need to raise is $9,555.

As can be seen each of these individual items is expensive and the club simply does not have the financial resources to afford these pieces of equipment. Other fundraising sources such as club fees, grants and sponsorship funds are generally earmarked to cover all the other day to day expenses and only go so far.

The current covers are several years old and have got many holes in them. The patching that worked in the past proved to be inadequate this season and so the covers need replacing before next season.

The current line marker is old and parts to repair it are very difficult, if not impossible to find. Our curator and others were forced to mark the mandatory boundary line manually, which is back breaking work. So, we need a new line marker in time for next season.

The current covers trolley is also several years old, the trolley simply can’t bear the weight of the heavy covers anymore, and repairs will only last so long or won’t be guaranteed to be successful. Also, loading and unloading the trolley with covers into and out of the storage container is back breaking work, so a new trolley and a ramp are desperately needed.

We will apply for grants, but there is no guarantee that the organisations providing them will come through. So, we need our Kingsville family – the players, and their families and friends, past players etc. to step up and help.

On average, it would take 200 people to donate approximately $50 to reach the target of $9,555.
