Old Scotch has a talented group of young athletes competing for the club.
Up to 12 Old Scotch Athletic Club athletes could reach the National Championship standard this year. James Lightfoot has been selected for the Australian schoolboys Team for the ISF World Championship in Paris in April.
There is little or no financial assistance from Government or Athletics Australia for our athletes.
The Club currently supports our athletes in a minor way with grants of $150.00 to attend National Championship. Even this modest support is beyond our yearly cash-flow and the Committee would like to do much more. This would include supporting our coaches to gain accreditation and to attend championships.
Gregor Evans and David Lightfoot are providing coaching to many of these athletes and also to Scotch. They have done a fantastic job. Roger Glass has recently started coaching.
It is many years since we had such a strong and committed squad.
All this is also happening at a time when there is a resurgence of athletics at Scotch with nearly 300 enrolled under the enthusiastic direction of Stewart Powell - Director of Sport
It is an important time for our athletes, for athletics at Scotch, and for the Old Scotch Athletic Club.
We have an opportunity is show our support through financial assistance.
Your Committee is embarking on a new direction for the club. I hope you will support us by becoming a sponsor and making a donation.
This program will be ongoing.
