Polynesian Va'a alo Outrigger Canoe Club is a mid-size culturally diverse club with a Pacific Islander ethos. Club activities include encouraging coach-supported social paddling in a safe environment for the activity. The club also provides coaching and training of competitive paddlers in the sport of outrigger canoe paddling.
These activities require paddles and canoes which normally costs in the vicinity of $30000 new, and which need regular maintenance to be safely serviceable. The canoes are transported on 12 m long trailers over distances as far as from Brisbane to Sydney for racing events.
