South Bendigo FNC has a long history in the Bendigo Football Netball League and will celebrate our 125th anniversary next year. Over that time our home ground has been the Queen Elizabeth Oval in Bendigo, however we are embarking on a new era by relocating to the southern suburbs of Bendigo at the Harry Trott Oval to become involved in the community and bring sport and recreation to the area.
We are working closely with council to bring the facilities to a suitable standard; to date we have new netball courts and lighting and the next project includes new social and change room, along with increasing the size of the ground and new scoreboard.
This will allow our club to fully move to this precinct and engage with the local community and schools to increase participation in sport. The new rooms will be available for use by the community at large, in conjunction with the Bendigo United Cricket Club and the local Tennis Club.
We currently have 8 junior football teams including a Youth Girls team and expect the number of Junior Girl teams to increase over the next few years, along with establishing a senior Womens team. We desperately need to provide adequate facilities for female sports. We also have 8 junior netball teams and growing along with our 5 Senior netball teams and 3 Senior grade Football Teams. This will be a fantastic sporting and recreational precinct for the whole community and will provide a pathway for local school students to participate in junior sports.
