South Perth Cricket Club - SPCC Digital Community Engagement Project

The South Perth Cricket Club – formed in 1930 – is located at the beautiful cricket venue Richardson Park in South Perth – just a stone’s throw from the Perth CBD.

The Club currently has 16 active playing sides under its banner – from community level Suburban Turf teams, through elite Boys and Girls Juniors (under 13s to under 17s), to the Senior WA Premier Cricket Mens and Womens teams competing at the highest level in Western Australia cricket.

South Perth Cricket Club is seeking to fund a new digital community engagement initiative aligned to increased participation, communications and sponsorship strategic objectives.

The project involves onboarding a new digital asset management system acting as the clubs central digital archive and a new integrated website. Overlaid with this is the implementation of Digital Honour Boards at the South Perth Cricket Club’s home at Richardson Park to replace the manual, expensive and time consuming process of updating club records annually.

This suite of digital solutions will be leveraged by club officials, members, sponsors, stakeholders and volunteers and enhance the clubs’ awareness, drive community communications, corporate sponsorship and ultimately existing and new member participation.

Implementing a digital community management project can provide numerous benefits for the South Perth Cricket Club. Some of the key benefits of such a project are:

1. Increased Communication with Members: A digital asset management system and new integrated website can help the club to maintain better communication with its members and stakeholders. By having a centralised repository for all club-related information, members and officials can easily access up-to-date news, content, schedules, and other relevant information. This will help increase awareness, engagement and involvement from members, as well as reduce confusion or misunderstandings about club activities.

Instant access to rich media within the clubs central digital asset management system will also help increase the sharing of promotional assets on social media, partner websites and SPCC website leading to increased awareness and communication with new and existing members.

2. Increased Participation: With a digital asset management system and new corporate website, the club can promote events and activities more effectively. This can help to increase participation in club events, matches, and other activities. Additionally, a digital asset management project can make it easier for members to sign up for events, RSVP, and communicate with each other, further enhancing participation.

The current website and provision of outbound communications does not allow officials and volunteers to easily promote club activities, membership drives and game participation information.

3. Corporate Sponsorship: The addition of the new corporate website will drastically increase the clubs ability to attract and retain corporate sponsors. The digital honour boards have the functionality to push rolling sponsors advertisements through regularly allowing for specific fundraising opportunities that can be supported by tangible and measurable exposure for sponsors. Further, by providing sponsors with access to detailed information about the club's activities, events, and members, sponsors can gain a better understanding of the club and its potential impact in the community. The website will also act as a corporate sponsor brand promotion platform, highlighting sponsors to the wider community and members alike. This will help to attract new sponsors, increase retention of existing sponsors and ultimately provide the club with additional revenue and resources.

4. improve range of records The Club currently goes through a time consuming and manual process each year to update club records, produce additional honour boards and vinyl stickers that need regular updates, replacements and corrections. The proposed digital honour board solution allows for instant updates of records, additions of new pieces of memorabilia as demanded from members from time to time as well as allowing specific tailoring of displays to suit the target audience (i.e. focus on Womens records and achievements on Female playing days and past championship winning teams on reunion nights etc).
