I am very happy to share that our new VIII is on track to be delivered by Sykes, in time for All Schools and Head of the River.

As you can imagine, there has been a lot happening in the background since the Sayers Family was damaged at Barrington. Insurance, juggling our fleet to determine the best outcome for Collegiate rowers, working with the school, liaising with Sykes and the construction of the VIII, suitable shipping of the boat across Bass straight and most pressingly identifying ways to pay for our new VIII.

We were able to negotiate a price of $58,000 for the new VIII, including the current quote for transportation. The school has generously committed $15k on top of what they already contribute to the Club, and we have received three three significant donations totaling $15k. This sum of money will enable us to guarantee delivery of the VIII. There is a remaining amount of $28,000 which the Club will need to raise.

We would like to run a double your tax deductable donations campaign, via our Australian Sports Foundation donations page where every dollar that is donated will be “matched” up to $30k with the contributions from the school ($15k) and the individual donations ($15k) outlined above. This would result in a total of $60k.

As you all know very well, our girls have worked tirelessly over the last 6 months and are at the pointy end of the field and they need this boat to give them every possible chance of success.
