Tennis – a sport for life
Whether you are 5 or 75, tennis is a sport for life which engages all levels of the community.  With 13,373 total players in the ACT, the capital boast a strong tennis history and with participation on the increase, is working towards creating a stronger future. 


Tennis ACT partnered with Tennis Australia and the ACT Government to complete a $10.5 million redevelopment of the Canberra Tennis Centre.  The facility now boast 8 outdoor pleixpave hardcourts, 4 indoor plexipave hardcourts, 12 European claycourts, 4 synthetic grasscourts, and 4 ANZ Tennis Hot Shots courts.  The redevelopment has attracted a number of international events to the capital including the Apis Canberra International and the East Hotel Canberra Challenger with future plans to attract additional events. The redevelopment also includes the Tennis ACT Walk of Fame which was established in 2016 to highlight the contributions of the tennis community. 


Donation Programs:
Tennis ACT have developed two fundraising programs which aim to preserve the history of tennis in the ACT and ensure the future of the sport through delivery of major events. 
These include:

  • Tennis ACT Walk of FameLeave your lasting legacy on the Walk of Fame at the Canberra Tennis Centre. 
  • Canberra Tennis Centre upgradesInvest in infrastructure upgrades at the Canberra Tennis Centre to increase the level of professional events held in Canberra

Tennis ACT is the peak body for tennis in the ACT with 5179 registered club players across 30 affiliated clubs.  There are 13,373 active players participating in the sport in the ACT.
Our mission is To grow, manage, promote and develop the sport of tennis throughout the ACT and region by:
  • Providing strong leadership and direction that guides the sport towards our vision;
  • Advocating the accessibility of tennis as a sport for all people ;
  • Promoting the health, economic, social and entertainment benefits that tennis delivers;
  • Preserving the rich heritage and traditions of tennis;
  • Partnering effectively with Tennis Australia, government, corporate partners and our clubs; and
