Since 1892 the VAFA has been innovating and connecting with grassroots community sport in Victoria. We are the largest senior competition for both males and females in Australia, providing a supportive and inclusive environment both on and off the field.
Our success embodies our rich 126 year heritage, the strong social fabric and the collegiate spirit amongst our 72 clubs and 13,0000 registered players and we are driving the conversation and participation of women in grassroots sports across Australia.
Regardless of age, gender or ability we are in it for the “love of the game”.
In July 2018, the VAFA moved into new premises at a redeveloped Elsternwick Park, following a landmark agreement between the State government and the Bayside City Council.
The Old Melburnians FC will share this facility with the VAFA and Elsternwick Cricket Club.
The new pavilion provides meeting and administrative space for the VAFA, space to display stakeholder logos, honour boards, trophies and memorabilia.
The redevelopment also includes a new pavilion – with female friendly change facilities for players and umpires and a new playing surface.
Our member clubs have access to the new pavilion and can use it to generate much needed funds for their clubs by hosting functions in the state of the art social room.
In addition, for the first time in many years we will be able to showcase our Association at finals on VAFA home turf with pride.
An opportunity exists for our member clubs and loyal supporters to invest a tax-deductible donation into the future of our Association and the new redeveloped $6.5m Elsternwick Park.
The VAFA have contributed $1.25M towards this world class regional facility. In addition, the Victorian Government has provided $3.1M, Bayside Council $1.25M and the AFL $750K.
The VAFA contribution is significant in the overall project and we believe it is a long-term investment for all of our Member Clubs going forward.
This major redevelopment heralds an exciting era for the VAFA and it will assist us to continue to be the leading Community competition in Australia.
Our plan is to raise $500k, which will be invested into the following areas to further entrench Elsternwick Park as the Headquarters of the VAFA and its Member clubs:
Through our fundraising partnership with the Sports Foundation, donations to this development are tax deductible.
