Clubhouse Redevelopment Project

Clubhouse Redevelopment Project

The Need

Warrnambool is a vibrant, dynamic and fast-growing community and continues to grow in significance as the regional services centre of South West Victoria and the Warrnambool Golf Club represents an important part of this community. Hosting over 1,000 members, it's one of the largest not-for-profit sporting clubs in the region and a significant contributor to the health, wellbeing and economy of its local community.

As part of its long-term strategy, the club needed to address the significant challenges and stresses of its aging infrastructure that had been neglected well beyond its useful life expectancy. The clubhouse facility no longer served the priorities of its growing membership and failed to meet the expectations and needs of visitors and community user groups.

Warrnambool Golf Club recognises that it plays a significant role in the lives of local residents and businesses, as well as our visitor economy, therefore the club has committed to undertake a $7.5 million redevelopment of its clubhouse to address this need. As part of its Funding Strategy, the club has launched a Capital Appeal for this important infrastructure project, with the goal to raise $2.0 million.

Project Outcomes

Warrnambool Golf Club strives to ensure that it builds a financially sustainable club, and this includes investment in excellent facilities for user groups, visitor attraction, community connection and additional revenue opportunities so it can continue to invest in further development that will continue to benefit our club and stimulate our regional economy.

The new facility will see over 60,000 visitations a year, including both golf and non-golf patrons, aiming to create a community hub where people can come to share experiences, participate in sport, learn and socialise, all whilst achieving improved health and wellbeing.

The Warrnambool Golf Club is a significant contributor to the local tourism economy and this project supports an increase in community benefits such as strengthening community relationships and increasing the profile of the region.

The increase in facility use will create jobs, both directly and indirectly and aims to increase and leverage local partnerships with businesses to maximise the use of our new facility as well as increase membership and visitation.

Regionally, this project aims to support economic and workforce development, local procurement. strategic regional planning and infrastructure investments as well as develop healthy, liveable and equitable communities improving access to services.
