ABOUT Charlotte Abbott
I’ve been training since I was 9, and karate has taught me discipline, respect, and the importance of working hard to continually improve. I train around 10 hours each week in the Okukan dojo, along with early mornings in the gym while balancing Year 11, to work towards my dream of representing Australia on the world stage. Alongside my sporting goals, I also aspire to become a paramedic, a career where I can help others and make a real difference.
One of the proudest moments of my journey so far was being awarded my 2nd Dan Black Belt by Genzo Iwata. It was an incredible honour and a milestone I had worked towards for many years.
But even that achievement was recently surpassed when I was selected for the Victorian State Karate Team. Representing Victoria is something I am very proud of, and I’m excited to train, compete, and learn alongside such talented athletes.
I love competing, especially in Kumite (sparring), where I can test myself and continue to grow. Some of my recent results include:
- Australian Open 2025 (Sydney) – Kumite Bronze Medal
- 16th Asian Pacific Shito-ryu Karate-do Championships, Singapore, 2024 – Kumite Silver Medal
I’m now preparing for the National Championships in Hobart and the 11th World Shito-ryu Karate Federation International Championships in Japan this September. Your support will help cover travel, competition fees, and training costs, giving me the opportunity to keep improving and chasing my dream.
Every contribution, big or small, makes a real difference and donations over $2 are TAX DEDUCTIBLE.
