ABOUT Aavik Shrestha
🥋 Aavik Shrestha, a 14-year-old Taekwondo athlete from Melbourne’s west, is a rising star with a 3rd Dan Black Belt and a dream to represent Australia on the world stage. Training since the age of 4, Aavik’s journey is defined by discipline, passion, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
🌟 A Champion in the Making
Aavik trains 5–6 days a week at Hall’s Taekwondo, traveling over 600 km weekly between Tullamarine, Preston, and Brunswick to access elite coaching. He also attends Maribyrnong Sports Academy, where he receives additional strength and conditioning training twice a week, complementing his club sessions and supporting his long-term development as a high-performance athlete. His dedication has earned him multiple domestic and international medals, and most recently, a place in the Performance Development Program with Australian Taekwondo Victoria.
🥇 Eyes on 2026: World Championships & Youth Olympics
The 2025 season is packed with high-level competitions including:
- ASMA Open
- Sydney Taekwondo Festival
- KPNP International Taekwondo Open Championship
- Korean Open & Training Camp
- President’s Cup
- Australian Open
- Oceania Championship
- National Championship
These events are critical stepping stones toward the 2026 World Championships and Youth Olympic Games.
💸 Why We Need Your Help
Despite his talent and commitment, Aavik does not yet qualify for national funding. Families like ours bear the full cost of:
- Entry fees
- Travel and accommodation
- Compulsory uniforms and gear
We estimate the 2025 campaign will cost over $10,000. Every dollar raised will go directly toward helping Aavik compete, grow, and represent Australia with pride.
