ABOUT Abbie Bastian
Softball has a proud Olympic history, with the Aussie Spirit winning medals at four previous Olympic Games. With the sport now reinstated for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, it’s my dream to contribute to this amazing softball legacy.
Earlier this year, at the age of 18, I earned my first Open Women’s National Team cap. More recently, I have been selected in the Open Women’s team to compete at the International Cup, in Oklahoma this July and August. Representing my country at this level is such an incredible honour, and an important step in my ongoing development as an elite softball athlete.
However, interstate training camps and international competition come with significant financial cost. To fully pursue these opportunities, I have deferred my university studies this year and am currently balancing my training commitments with part-time casual employment. Time spent away at training camps and competitions is therefore unpaid, adding further financial pressure.
To help support this journey, I am undertaking some fundraising. Any contribution, no matter how big or small, would be genuinely appreciated. Your support will not only help me travel to Oklahoma but also assist with future national training camps and other high-performance competition opportunities, as I continue striving towards my goals.
I am already grateful to so many people who have offered time, expertise, belief, and encouragement along the way. Every bit of support on this journey genuinely means so much!
