    ABOUT Abigail Day

    Caversham, WA

Hi, I’m Abigail Day. I’m 12 years old, I live in Western Australia, and hockey is a huge part of my life.

This year I have been given two incredible opportunities to represent Western Australia at national hockey championships.

Although I am still eligible to play 12 and Under hockey, I have been selected for the Hockey WA Under 14 team travelling to Canberra this October. Being selected alongside players up to two years older than me is something I am extremely proud of and have worked very hard to achieve.

I have also been selected for the School Sport WA 12 and Under hockey team travelling to Newcastle, NSW, in October. This means I will have the honour of representing Western Australia at two separate national championships in the same month.

Earlier this year, I represented WA at the Under 14 National Indoor Hockey Championships in Goulburn, NSW, where I was the youngest player in the tournament. That experience strengthened my determination to keep learning, improving and competing at the highest level I can.

I play junior hockey for Reds Hockey Club and senior hockey for Eastern Blades. I currently play in three teams each week while also attending club training and additional state training for both representative teams.

I also enjoy giving something back to the sport. I regularly help coach younger children who are learning to play Minkey hockey, and later this year I plan to complete an umpiring course.

Representing Western Australia is an amazing opportunity, but it also comes with a substantial financial commitment for my family. Each interstate trip is expected to cost approximately $5,000, covering team uniforms, travel and accommodation. With two national championships taking place in October, the total cost will be approximately $10,000.

We have created this fundraiser to help meet those expenses and make it possible for me to take part in both championships. Funds raised will be used towards my required uniforms, interstate travel and accommodation for the Canberra and Newcastle tournaments.

Any contribution, no matter the amount, will make a genuine difference. If you are unable to donate, sharing this page with your family, friends or workplace would also be a wonderful way to support me.

I am enormously proud to have the opportunity to represent Western Australia, particularly at Under 14 level while I am still only 12. I will work hard to make the most of these opportunities and represent my state, clubs, coaches and supporters with pride.

Thank you for supporting my hockey journey.
