ABOUT Adriana Herink
I am a player for the Sydney Sirens for the 2025/26 AWIHL season.
I grew up playing ice hockey in Penrith, NSW, at the Penrith Ice Palace, until that ice rink unfortunately closed following the impact of COVID-19 on many businesses.
I did not let this stop me from perusing my passion for ice hockey. Because I hold Czech citizenship, my family and I (all hockey fanatics) moved to Czech Republic, where ice hockey is a far more popular and a well-funded sport.
I spent 2 years in Czech, training and playing for my local boys team as well as playing in the Czech Women's Extraliga. I went to many training camps and development facilities such as skate mills, to refine my skills. I was fortunate enough to be invited to the Czech U18 National Team selection camp, which was such an amazing opportunity and learning experience. During this time I also briefly played and trained in Canada while visiting family.
Most recently, I had the opportunity to attend the Australian Senior Women’s National Team selection camp, where I was selected to play for the Australian Women’s National Team.
Dur my off-season, I played inline hockey to maintain/improve my skills and learn a more offensive style of play. I have represented NSW at nationals with the women's inline team and have consecutively won the last two years.
I am extremely excited to play with the Sirens this year. We have a strong team, excellent coaching staff, new exciting systems and something to prove as this is our comeback season.
Thank you so sincerely for your support! Participation in the AWIHL and the Australian National Team is entirely self funded, which can be challenging as I am a part-time student and traveling for games on weekends further limits my working hours.
