ABOUT Airlie Beach Cricket Club Inc
The Club Vision and Overview of ABCC
The Airlie Beach Cricket Club (ABCC) is a newly established Cricket club based in the vibrant and growing Airlie Beach region of the Whitsundays. Initially founded in 2022, ABCC’s primary goal is to promote and grow the game of cricket within the Whitsundays community. Central to our mission is the development of a new turf wicket at the Whitsunday Sports Park (WSP), which will serve as a catalyst for cricket’s expansion in the greater Airlie Beach area.
The club is guided by a passionate and experienced Executive Committee, comprising current and former cricketers who bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise from various community sporting organisations. Although ABCC currently operates with a volunteer team of six dedicated individuals and has no paid members, our committee’s diverse skill set ensures strong leadership and strategic direction as we develop and strengthen the club’s presence in the region.
How do your donations support the club?
Our primary goal for the 2025 26 season is to immediately upgrade the necessary cricketing infrastructure to enable Junior, Women's and Men's team to play cricket at the Whitsunday Sports Park and the Cannonvale State School.
Junior Cricket
ABCC plans include using the CSS grounds for ABCC Junior teams competing in the Mackay competition in the 2025/26 season. We are actively pursuing funding to upgrade and replace the CSS wicket, with plans to have it completed by July 2025 to ensure readiness for the upcoming cricket season. Additionally, we are starting a Junior “Master Blasters” program at the CSS in August 2025 to promote junior cricket in the greater Airlie Beach region.
Women’s Cricket
ABCC plans include using the CSS grounds for establishing a social women's cricket competition in the 2025/26 season. This new women’s competition will be initially a social competition to facilitate the growth of women’s cricket in the Whitsunday region.
Senior Men’s Cricket
During the recent 2024/25 season, the ABCC Senior team participated in the Proserpine Competition. With the development of the local Airlie Beach cricket infrastructure, we are confident that our senior player membership will increase significantly. This growth is expected to be further stimulated by the upcoming installation of the WSP turf wicket and our planned inclusion in the Mackay Competition in the 2025 26 season.
Your generous donations will greatly assist the club to implement the necessary cricket infrastructure upgrades and will set the stage for continued development of Junior, Women's and Men's cricket in the greater Airlie Beach region.
