    ABOUT Alec Diamond

I’ve made a big move — after years competing as a decathlete, I’ve recently taken on a new challenge: bobsleigh.

It might sound wild going from the athletics track to an icy chute at 150km/h, but I’m now all-in on the goal of competing at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

This shift has been exciting and energising — a fresh start in a new sport, but with the same passion for pushing myself to the limit and representing Australia on the world stage.

Over my whole athletics career, I’ve always backed myself — training, travelling, competing, all without asking for financial help. But bobsleigh is a completely different ballgame. It’s a fully self-funded sport in Australia, and the costs are pretty intense: equipment, sled time, travel to Europe and North America, coaching, accommodation… it all adds up quickly.

So for the first time, I’m reaching out for support. I’ve set up a fundraising page through the Australian Sports Foundation, which means any donation over $2 is tax-deductible.

Whether it’s a donation, a share, or even just a message of support, I’d really appreciate it. This new Olympic journey is something I’m giving everything to, and any support goes a long way in helping me chase it down.
