Hi, I'm Aleisha Neumann, an international hockey umpire proudly representing Australia on the world stage. Over the past decade, I’ve had the incredible honour of officiating at the highest levels of our sport — including the 2020 Tokyo and 2024 Paris Olympic Games, as well as the 2018 and 2022 World Cups and Commonwealth Games.

This year (2025), I was humbled to be awarded the Golden Whistle, a prestigious recognition given to umpires who reach the milestone of 100 international matches and in 2020 I was the first female to officiate a top tier men's international match in New Zealand. In 2020 and 2022 I was awarded the Q-Sport Officiator of the Year.

Now, I’m focused on my next goal: appointment to the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup.

While I continue to represent Australia on the international circuit, I also remain deeply committed to the game at home. This year marks my third season officiating in the Hockey One League, after previously playing in the league’s inaugural season with the Brisbane Blaze, who went on to win the title.

However, what many may not know is that international and national umpiring in hockey is almost always voluntary. Despite the global and national stage, there are no match payments provided for appointments with the single exception of the Pro League competition. All of our preparation for tournaments (physiotherapy, training, nutrition, equipment etc) is all self-funded and that’s why I’m reaching out for your support.
