ABOUT Alex Epitropakis
Hi everyone, my name is Alex Epitropakis and I’m a 19-year-old Australian long jumper and triple jumper. I’ve been selected to represent Australia at the World University Games in Germany this July for Long Jump. I would really appreciate any help to get there as this is a self funded competition.
My journey hasn’t been easy. I’ve always been passionate about athletics. I was a late developer who trained hard on my technique despite often being outsized and overlooked for development squads. But I never gave up. That determination finally paid off when, in 2024, I proudly represented Australia at the World U20 Championships in Peru where I made the final in Triple Jump and finished 12th in the world after succumbing to an injury. This was an incredible learning experience but was also a self funded competition where I didn’t seek outside help.
I’ve dedicated myself to athletics: balancing elite training with university studies, recovering through injuries, and pushing myself every day to go further. I’m really proud to have made 2 Australia teams at World events for 2 different jumps.
Unfortunately, travelling to Germany and competing on the world stage is expensive. The total expenses are around $7,500, and any contribution—big or small—will go directly toward covering those costs and help me work towards my athletics dreams.
If you are able to support a young Aussie chasing a big dream, I’d be incredibly grateful for your support. Thank you for reading, hopefully donating, and sharing my story
