Hi, my name is Amber Farraway, and I’m a boxer from Charters Towers, a small rural town in North Queensland, now training out of FiteKlub on the Gold Coast.

At the beginning of 2024, I packed up my life and moved to the Gold Coast for one reason - to give myself the best possible chance of chasing my dream of representing Australia at the LA 2028 Olympic Games.

That dream no longer feels a million miles away.

I’m currently on track towards Olympic selection, but getting there requires far more than just turning up to training every day.

My life right now revolves around boxing. I train twice a day, work two jobs to support myself, and regularly travel around Australia and overseas for competitions, camps and opportunities to test myself against some of the best boxers in the world.

I wouldn’t change it.

But the reality is that chasing an Olympic dream is expensive.

Flights, accommodation, competition costs, equipment, recovery, nutrition and all the other expenses that come with competing at an international level continue to grow. As the opportunities become bigger, so do the costs.

I work hard to fund as much of this journey as I can myself, but I’ve reached a point where I need some help.

Asking for support isn’t always easy, but I also know that very few athletes make it to an Olympic Games completely on their own.

Every person who donates, shares this page, sends a message of encouragement or follows my journey becomes part of the team helping me get there.

Boxing has completely changed my life.

It has taught me what it means to be disciplined when no one is watching, to keep going when things are difficult, to believe in myself when things don’t go my way, and to sacrifice today for something I want years from now.

Coming from Charters Towers, the idea of one day walking into an Olympic Games wearing the green and gold is something that still gives me goosebumps.

That is what I’m chasing. Not just for myself, but for my family, the people who have supported me, my hometown, my gym and everyone who has believed in me along the way.

Any contribution, big or small, will go directly towards helping me continue training, travelling and competing at the level required to put myself in the strongest possible position for LA 2028 Olympic selection.
