ABOUT Amelia Bell
The first time I played Volleyball was in Grade 6, where I instantly fell in love with the sport. Although I didn't begin playing competitively until grade 9 with my move to my high school, St Peter's Lutheran College, where I quickly realised my ambitions for Volleyball.
Since then, I've been fortunate enough to have met numerous coaches and teammates who have supported me, helping me develop as a player and athlete. Which has led to multiple opportunities that have deepened my love for the sport - Such as being privileged enough to represent Australia last year in Thailand for the U20 Developmental tour, and most recently moving to the Australian Volleyball Academy in January at the Australian Institute of Sport.
Volleyball has become a massive part of my life in the past couple of years, and it is my goal to attend the 2032 Olympics being held on home soil in Brisbane. It's with this aspiration that I hope to take up any opportunity I have to play at a higher representative level. The only downside I've found with becoming a high-level athlete is that these opportunities are completely self-funded. With my recent move to Canberra, tackling full-time training and working as much as I can around it, these efforts are not quite enough to fund these costs. Thus, I've started my campaign through the Australian Sports Foundation in hopes of some support for my aspirations to continue my development as a Volleyballer to become the best player I can be.
