ABOUT Amy Thirlwell
Amy is a dancer at the Madeline Stuart Dance Company. The MSDC has created two studio teams to form part of the Australian Cheer Union National teams as the first two 100% independent Special Olympic and Special Abilities Hip Hop teams. Amy has worked very hard to be a part of these two teams. In April 2026, they will be travelling to the USA to represent Australia at the 2026 ICU World Championships. This world-class event is Olympic sanctioned, televised LIVE on the official Olympic Sports channel, and hosts athletes from countries all around the world. This event is held at the infamous, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort; 'Where Legends Are Made!'.
Amy wasn't diagnosed as autistic until later in life. She is now a huge advocate for disability inclusion and showing the world what people with disabilities can do! She has worked extremely hard to get where she is today, and continues to practice everyday getting ready for this exciting opportunity!
We are fundraising to help with all of the costs associated with international travel and the fees, costumes and uniforms that she needs to represent Team Australia. And of course she is hoping for some souvenirs from Disney World!
