ABOUT Andrea Wang

Calamvale, QLD

This year, I have been given the exciting opportunity to represent Australia in rhythmic gymnastics at two prestigious international competitions: the Aphrodite Cup in Greece and the Sofia World Cup in Bulgaria. This will be my first time competing internationally as a Senior gymnast and the second time I have ever competed overseas, following my participation in the 2023 Junior World Championships in Romania. Stepping onto the same competition floor as elite, professional athletes will be both an honour and an incredible challenge.

Rhythmic gymnastics is a unique sport, featuring athletes performing on a carpet with apparatus, such as a hoop, ball, clubs or ribbon. It has taught me discipline, resilience, commitment and time management. As a student-athlete, I train 25 hours a week while also completing full-time Grade 11 at Brisbane State High School, balancing academic responsibilities alongside high-performance training.

Despite the sport's beauty and difficulty, rhythmic gymnastics in Australia is completely self-funded. Travelling overseas involves significant costs, including flights, accommodation, competition fees and training expenses. By supporting my fundraiser, you are turning years of hard work and dedication into reality. Your support allows me to wear the green and gold with pride, passion and determination.
