    ABOUT Angus Higgins

    Kingston Park, SA

I’m Angus Higgins, creator of the Aruba Racing Team, a new Australian Mixed 470 Sailing Team campaigning toward the 2028 Olympic Games.

We’re raising funds to build a sustainable, high-performance campaign. Our goal is to build a campaign that allows us to train, compete, and develop at the standard needed to represent Australia on the world stage. These funds will be allocated directly toward essential campaign costs, including equipment, travel, coaching, and international competition expenses.

Being a Higgins, Sailing started for me practically at birth. It’s shaped who I am, taught me resilience, and connected me with people who share the same drive to push limits and perform under pressure. This campaign is about chasing the Olympic dream but also about building a foundation that inspires younger sailors to believe that hard work and consistency can take you anywhere.

In 2026, our team aims to head to Europe to compete in major international events including the 470 European Championships in Portugal, the Princess Sofia Regatta in Spain, Semaine Olympique Française in France and the World Championships in Japan. These events are crucial opportunities to benchmark ourselves against the world’s best and gain the experience needed to become truly competitive on the Olympic circuit.

With your help, we can afford a competitive boat and ensure we have the resources to attend and perform at these key events. Every contribution helps us get closer to that goal — every metre, every race, every start, every season.

We’re training full-time in Australia, developing strong technical and teamwork foundations before stepping into European competition. We’re supported by the South Australian Sports Institute and the wider Australian sailing community, but the reality is that most of our campaign is self-funded.

Your support makes this journey possible — and we’re so grateful to have you alongside us as we chase something truly special.
