ABOUT Anu Francis
I’m a professional para triathlete on a mission to win gold at the LA 2028 Paralympic Games.
I transferred from rowing into triathlon at the end of 2020, driven by my dream to become a Paralympian. Since then, I’ve risen to become the current PTS2 World Champion and World No. 1. In 2024, I made my Paralympic debut in Paris, finishing 4th — just shy of the podium — and igniting an even stronger drive to be on the podium in LA.
I have multiple disabilities, including dopa-responsive dystonia (a one-in-a-million neurological disorder), Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (a degenerative connective tissue disorder) and AuDHD (autism + ADHD), which affect almost every part of my body. Living and training with multiple complex disabilities presents daily challenges, but it also fuels my resilience and purpose. Being based in Adelaide means I often need to travel interstate to access specialised para coaching, medical care, and high-performance facilities essential for competing at the highest level.
Your support will directly contribute to the costs of being a professional para-athlete — including training, coaching, equipment, travel, accommodation, medical treatment, and day-to-day living expenses. A major barrier in elite sport is financial sustainability; donations will help reduce my reliance on work so I can prioritise recovery, training, and performance — giving me the best possible chance to reach my full athletic potential and stand on the top set of the podium in LA.
Beyond sport, I’m passionate about using my platform to create meaningful change. I am actively involved in disability advocacy and public speaking, working to break down barriers and challenge discrimination — something I have experienced firsthand, including being driven away from my original dream career of veterinary medicine due to disability discrimination.
My goal is bigger than medals. I want to help build a world where all children — regardless of disability, gender, socioeconomic background, or race — have equal opportunity to pursue and achieve their dreams.
By supporting my journey, you’re not just backing an athlete — you’re contributing to a movement for greater inclusion, representation, and opportunity.
