From winning her first Optimist Dinghy regatta in Green Fleet three years ago to representing Australia twice in 2025 - Astrid has had a great start to her sailing career! At the age of 9 Astrid started sailing and she loved " when the wind fills the sails and you go fast".

With her first Optimist Dark Horse she developed her sailing skills, made lots of new friends and learned to love the strong winds and waves.

During the years she advanced from Green Fleet, through Intermediate Fleet and now in the Open Fleet racing against the best Optimist sailors in Australia.

In 2024 she was given to opportunity for the first time to represent Australia and travelled to Hong Kong with the team to complete in the Asian & Oceanic Championship. She finished 3rd Girl in Oceania and got the taste for international regattas. With her strong performance in the 2025 Musto Australian Optimist Championships she qualified for the European Championships in Turkey in May 2025.

Astrid is well prepared for the challenge having recently secured the 1st placed girl in the NSW Championships 2025.
