    ABOUT Australian Flying Disc Association

    Melbourne, VIC

The Australian Flying Disc Association Limited (AFDA) is the recognised national sporting organisation responsible for disc sports in Australia.

AFDA supports the growth and development of both community and elite participation in Ultimate Frisbee and Disc Golf with a view to ensuring engagement in sport is both safe and inclusive. In addition to working with our member organisations to support grass roots participation and regular community competition, AFDA is responsible for running annual national Ultimate championship tournaments and managing our 16 Team Australia Ultimate teams, from our junior under 20s team through to our preeminent Aussie Crocs World Games team.

Despite Australia's successes on the world stage, flying disc sport does not receive federal government funding to support high performance competition. Elite athletes are therefore required to self-fund their participation, training and competition (including attendance at world championship events, while team personnel (i.e. coaches, team managers) provide their services in a voluntary capacity, investing significant time and effort into campaigns and athlete development and using their own personnel annual leave to be present at international tournaments.

AFDA is currently raising funds to support high performance disc sport with the aim of offsetting elite athlete campaign costs and providing financial compensation to team personnel.
