ABOUT Australian Schools Rugby Union

Cherrybrook, NSW

The Australian Schools Rugby Union has been fostering rugby excellence since 1971, creating pathways from grassroots to representative level for student athletes across every state and territory.

In 2022, Schoolgirls 7s took centre stage at The Australian Schools National Championships, and the response has been extraordinary. Our Australian Schoolgirls 7s team—selected on merit from the best youth talent at the Australian Schools Rugby Championships—now competes internationally, representing Australia with pride and determination. These athletes are part of our high-performance pathway, with many destined to become our future Olympians and Wallaroos.

Global Youth 7s Tournament - Auckland, December 2025

This December, our Schoolgirls 7s team will compete at the Global Youth 7s tournament in Auckland, New Zealand (16-22 December). This international high-performance competition provides invaluable experience against world-class opposition and prepares athletes for future representative opportunities, including Olympic and senior national team pathways.

How to support our Schoolgirls:

We've created individual fundraising campaign pages for each team member, allowing you to support a specific athlete's journey to Auckland. Each player needs help covering their share of travel, accommodation, uniforms, meals, and tournament expenses.

Browse our players' pages to learn their stories and support them directly—or donate here to support the entire program.

Your tax-deductible donation to the organisational fund helps cover:

  • High-performance coaching and team management
  • Team equipment and training resources
  • Medical and physiotherapy support for the team
  • Administrative and logistics costs
  • Support for athletes who need additional assistance

Whether you support an individual player or contribute to the program, you're investing in the future of Australian rugby and helping student athletes represent their country on the world stage.
