The participation levels of junior basketball in Bacchus Marsh has increased exponentially, and Lightning Basketball Club has experienced a spike of over 300% in participants over the past five years. Lightning now have over 30 teams competing, from ages 5-20, helping to promote active kids as well as creating pathways to elite programs including, Victorian Junior Basketball League, Victorian Future Development Program, School Sports Australia to name just a few of the opportunities that have been afforded to Lightning junior basketballers recently.

The costs for clubs and participants also continues to rise for a sport that receives far less government assistance compared to some other sports. Our club wants to see our juniors continue to enjoy playing, develop their skills, both physically and socially and most importantly remain active.

We want to raise funds to help reduce the burden on families, who are continuing to pay more to play as they cover the rising costs of court hire for training and games, officials and uniforms.
